Although you might of heard bad things about Haiti, the island surprisingly has Continental land. For example, Haiti is two-thirds mountainous, with the rest of the country marked by great valleys, extensive plateaus, and small plains. Rivers are numerous but short, and most are not navigable. The country has been heavily logged for wood and fuel and to clear land for farming. Because of that, Haiti doesn't have many trees. Because of the lose of trees, hurricanes become much more deadly.
